Heli rig fools two topping tench

The long drive to Oxfordshire’s Linear Fisheries was made more than worthwhile for Durham angler Simon Ashton when he banked two 9lb 8oz tench.

The Drennan and Sonubaits-backed big-fish specialist tempted both specimens on hair-rigged pieces of worm baited on a helicopter rig fished on a gravel bar at range.

Feeding his swim with particles, the 24 hour session began slowly for Simon but a move to another lake provided him with the takes he was waiting for, including one from another specimen weighing 8lb.
